Gherkin the 6th tallest commercial skyscraper in London’s primary financial district, the City of London
Gherkin is the most photographed London attractions. It has distinctive shape, 180 metres tall, incorporating 40 floors. This is the 6th tallest building in London. On the building’s top level (the 40th floor), there is a bar for tenants and their guests featuring a 360° view of London.
It is a commercial skyscraper in London’s primary financial district, the City of London. It was opened in 2004 on the former site of the Baltic Exchange, which was extensively damaged in 1992 by the explosion of a bomb placed by the Provisional IRA in St Mary Axe.
It houses Office accommodation, famous restaurants etc. Public can visit The Plaza, which includes a restaurant and wine bar.
The building has become an iconic symbol of London and is one of the city’s most widely recognised examples of contemporary architecture.
