Science Museum Collections & Library

The Science Museum holds more than 300,000 collections. It includes famous Stephenson’s Rocket , first jet engine, DNA model, Steam engines. You can also see the documentation of the first typewriter with so many science inventions. Hundreds of the interactive exhibits are one of the main attractions here.

Science Museum London history

The history of the Science Museum over the last 150 years has been one of continual change. The exhibition galleries are never static for long. It is changing always to reflect the continuous changes in science, technology, and medicine.

It was founded in 1857 with the collection of the Royal Society of Arts as part of the South Kensington Museum. It gained independence in 1909. The Science Museum was opened to the public in stages over the period 1919–28.

Science Museum IMAX 3D

Watch the film on one of the biggest screens in the UK in an impressive IMAX 3D presentation. Usually the films or documentaries are about of our Planet, NatureScience and invention etc. Kids enjoy the most these films on IMAX 3D screen. IMAX Theatre ticket holders can also enjoy the foyer, a great place to meet.

Interesting information about IMAX 3D films.
– It is actually two films being projected perfectly in synchronisation with each other, one for each eye
– It is so heavy. A forklift is required to lift it in and out of position. If rolled out, the average IMAX film would measure around four miles
– The IMAX screen is the height of four double-decker buses, and 64 taxis could be parked on top if it were laid flat

Science Museum Robots

There was a very successful exhibition on Robots held at the premises of Science Museum from Feb to Sep 2017. It explored the 500-year story of humanoid robots. It illustrated with robotic artefacts from around the globe. It is a great miss if we do not visit that exhibition. Science Museum Wonderlab: The Statoil Gallery

Wonderlab gallery of the Science Museum is a new addition. It is the best things you can come to Science Museum and think like a scientist. The gallery exhibits 50 interactives. Staff explains the technology and science behind. Demonstrate the science behind rockets, explosions and other noisy, messy phenomena. It Reveals the beauty of the science and maths. It is an unmissable experience. It ignite our curiosity, fuel our imagination. Inspire us to see the world around us in new and exciting ways.

Science Museum always organise exhibitions. The event calendar is always busy. Car Parking: No car parking spaces available at the premises. And also local parking is very limited. A few disabled parking spaces are available outside the Museum on Exhibition Road. They can park here for four hours between 8.30am and 6.30pm
